Am I Too Old To Begin Ballroom Dancing With Competitive Hopes?

I’m 17, and going to begin ballroom dancing soon. I naturally have good rythym and posture and the like, so I was wondering if I had any chance of getting into the competitive circut? I know with other sports, such as ballet and figure skating, it’s a virtual must to have started at a very young age, but I’m unsure if it matters in ballroom. At what age do most competitors start learning?
