I’m in a senior competitive dance class, and we get to brainstorm songs for our upcoming routine, then pick the best one. I want tons of ideas, but these songs have to be FAST and either really new or really old. Thanks in advance!

Break dance is a dance style, born out of the hip-hop genre, that normally takes place on the street. It has been called street dancing by some dancing professionals. It consists of dancing to music that has been remixed in order to prolong the breaks in the music. A person who does this form of dancing is referred to as a break dancer. Break dancing first began as a way for the youth in the urban cities to get away from the violence of the area. Today however, break dancing is a mixture of dance techniques and athleticism. It consists of difficult moves that require the dancer to have a great deal of stamina and talent.
There are four main break dancing moves that can be performed throughout a routine. These include the top rock, down rock, power moves and freezes. The top rock refers to any string of steps that are performed from the standing position. During a break dancing routine the top rock is typically used to introduce the routine. This form of dance is where dancers typically draw upon other forms of dance.
Down rock is also referred to as foot rock. This is foundation of foot rock and consists of six basic steps. The name down rock comes from the position in which the dance is performed. The dancer normally performs the dance with both hands and feet on the floor. While having his hands on the floor the dancer performs very intricate footwork.
Power moves are the part of the dance that requires the dancer to have a great deal of momentum and physical power. The dancer must rely on upper body strength for these power moves. Some examples of the power moves include windmills, swipes, and flares. These moves are often borrowed from gymnastic moves.
Freezes in break dancing are designed to add flare and dramatic effect to the dance. As the name suggests, a freeze is a halt in the dancing. Freezes can be rated according to difficulty. The more difficult freezes require the dance to suspend him or her with feet off the ground. This means that in order to properly perform a freeze the dancer must have a great deal of upper body strength. An example of a freeze might be a hand stand that is incorporated into the middle of the dance.
In order to properly perform a correct break dancing, there must be appropriate music. The music itself must consist of a heavy beat. The music comes from jazz, soul, R&B. Break dancers often perform to compilations of music taken from difference genres have been remixed to add a heavy beat. The tempo has to be such that a dancer can perform the moves quickly and smoothly. However, break dancers have been known to be able to adapt their style so that they can perform to music that has a slower tempo. In competitions, it has been reported that highly skilled break dancers can perform to European electronica and some have even performed to opera music.

If a woman asks a man to participate in a dance routine, could this mean she is interested in something more?

I am a ballroom dancer and this really lovely lady asked me to help develop and perform a salsa routine with her. I am an intermediate dance student and she is a new but incredibly talented dancer, not to mention that she is taking the entire studio by storm. Granted that there are better or far more advanced students at the studio, she chose me (I don’t know if she had asked other guys at the studio to do this prior to asking me, but because she is very sweet and very attractive, they must have been morons to have turned her down, my guess is that she didn’t asked anybody else). The reason I accepted is because I am extremely attracted to her. Could this possibly mean that she is interested in pursuing something more? Any ideas on how to handle this situation?
we are both in our mid-20’s and as far as I know, she is single.

When in dance class, watch the dance teacher. It may sound like simple advice but when applied properly it’s great advice.
There’s usually a lot you can learn from a really good dance teacher. You can learn by copying their technique, you can learn a lot about how to make a dance style look good, you can learn about a certain style of movement.
In fact if your dance teacher is any good at all, you’ll learn a lot of things from them, much more than just choreography. However in some instances the dance teacher may not explicitly teach you how to do the dance moves, they’ll just teach the choreography. And it will be up to you to watch them and copy them so you can do it like them.
Different dance teachers have different dance styles and if you can learn to dance like your different dance teachers you will learn a lot of different dance styles which of course makes you a better and more versatile dancer.
It can be very tempting to just learn dance routines, after all it does take concentration and routines are a lot of fun. But if you’re not spending enough time watching the teacher close enough and working out what they’re doing to make their moves look so good, you’re only getting half the benefit of the dance lesson.
When you’re not sure how the dance teacher is doing a certain dance move, ask! Nearly all dance teachers will be more than happy to answer and help you out. Sometimes they don’t explain certain moves as they may assume that the dance class already knows how to do them. This is especially true for dance classes above beginners level.
Look out for all the details of the dance choreography. Things such as levels (how high or low they are), shapes of the moves, if the move is an extension or meant to be small, speed of the different moves, technique being used, lines, where the accents are, if the moves are fluid or staccato, etc. There are so many different aspects to look out for and the more you are able to copy, the more you’ll look like the teacher.
It can also be beneficial to speak to the dance teacher at the end of the dance class and ask them directly what they think you should work on and what needs to be improved. Their answer will be the most important things that need to be worked on and the most important things that you’ll need to focus on to improve and get better.
Not all dance teachers correct the mistakes their students make so sometimes the only thing you can do is ask the teacher directly. If you have a dance teacher that likes to call out mistakes then it will probably be obvious to you what you need to work on.
Also if you’re able to record yourself and watch yourself back you’ll be able to come up with lots of things you can do to improve your dancing. Video gives you a much better and accurate representation of your dancing than even the mirrors in the dance studio. Sometimes it can be a major shock as you may think you’re doing something right, and only when you watch yourself back on video do you realise that it can be much better!

Can I write a novel that includes a famous song dance routine without paying royalties?

I have a great idea for my book, but it involves three of the main characters doing a dance routine (parody) seamlessly to the songs music video. Can I do this, publish the book and not worry about paying the music artist royalties?
I forgot to add: the only thing I mention is the song name, who it was by and a few of the dance moves names. Not one other word from it it mentioned.

Fitness and health has always been a priority for people who want to live longer and healthier, however working out and keeping health related routines tend to be quite boring and many people end up dropping out of gyms and health programs because of that very same fact, a way for gyms to fight this motivation-related issue is by offering especial cardio programs and personal trainers who encourage their members to complete their routines without lagging or thinking of quitting; the only downside is that such trainers cost money.
Gyms and trainers are a great concept however not everyone has the time to go to the gym as often as other people would, in this case the most effective way to keep yourself well toned and healthy is to use a portable fitness system. When it comes to portable health equipment there are several options which may focus on specific areas of your body, portable fitness machines are bulky and even though they were designed to be portable they might not be the best solution for you.
Considering these factors the best solution is a cardio-oriented routine which would allow you to burn fat, tone your muscles and be portable, this is were dance and fitness videos come into play. Fitness videos are made by professionals and fitness trainers who have dedicated most of their lives to help people improve their health condition, loose weight and stay toned. When it comes to fitness videos you will notice that the routines incorporate the motion you would follow by using a machine at the gym, these workouts may be complemented with weights or any other device which provides extra resistance to intensify the workout.
Dance videos on the other hand focus on the cardio and muscle toning part, as you know dancing is not only a health related activity but it is also considered a hobby by people who enjoy rhythmic music, this may be Tango, Pop, Rap, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Salsa, you name it! The difference between these workout videos is that they do not employ the use of weights, instead you are thought **** moves which focus on certain areas of your body (hips, thighs, waist, etc), however this cardio workout can also help you loose weight throughout your entire body. Dance videos are a great way to keep yourself well toned, loose weight and learn **** moves you can use when you go out to party!
